If one man could be said to embody all the most positive characteristics of the early Industrial Revolution, it must surely be Josiah Wedgwood. The irrepressible urge to create, understand, and improve; the commitment to progressive and humanitarian causes; the determination to endure and triumph over adversity... all these qualities and more Wedgwood possessed in abundance.
We shall not only trace his journey from relatively humble origins in Burslem to being widely regarded as one of the foremost men of his age, but also meet his family and circle of friends. In particular, his friendships with other members of the Lunar Society, most notably Erasmus Darwin, would leave a lasting legacy and inaugurate a family line connecting him to some of the greatest minds of the following two centuries.
Join us to meet this exceptional man – and, of course, to admire his exquisite work along the way.
