Welcome to the age of the dictators. Half a century before the Roman Republic finally fell, two men, each possessed of a monumental ego, paved the way. The bloody and bitter feud between Gaius Marius and Lucius Cornelius Sulla showed no respect for law, custom, or indeed human life. And yet both men saw themselves as guardians of the very system they did so much to destroy.

We will follow their careers and triumphs through the histories of Plutarch, Sallust, and Appian, before reaching the grisly finale of 82BC. Foul deeds await!
